Your Guide to Buying from Korea 🇰🇷

New to ordering from Korea? Don't worry. K·PARCEL is a premium service for getting anything out of Korea — for individuals and businesses. Whether it's fashion, beauty, food, electronics, hobby goods, or a hard-to-find item you saw online, we help you buy it, receive it, and ship it worldwide. Korean shopping has its own quirks (Korean-only checkouts, foreign cards declined, shops that don't ship abroad), so this guide explains everything in plain English so you never feel lost.

Part 1 — How K·PARCEL Works

1.1 What is a package forwarding service?

Many Korean shops won't ship abroad, or won't accept foreign cards. So we give you your own Korean address. (Full explainer: what is a Korean package forwarding service?) You shop at Korean stores using that address, your orders arrive at our Seoul warehouse, and we ship everything to you — combined into one box to save on shipping.

1.2 Three ways to use us

1.3 Why combine (consolidate)?

International shipping is priced by weight, and the first kilogram costs the most. Buying 1 item and shipping it alone is expensive per item. Most customers buy several things and let us pack them into one box — much cheaper per item. You can even keep buying over a few weeks and ship it all at once. (Business and bulk buyers benefit most here — see §3.5.)

1.4 "No-data" packages

Every package needs your personal mailbox code so we know it's yours. Korean shops sometimes strip that code (their form rejects English, or you typed your real name instead). When a package arrives we can't match, it becomes a "no-data" package. If you think one is yours, claim it with your tracking number and we'll verify with photos. Tip: always paste your mailbox code exactly as the recipient — see §5.1.

Part 2 — Example: KPOP Shopping, Decoded

KPOP is one of our most popular use-cases, so here's a deep dive — see also our focused walkthrough: How to buy KPOP from Korea. If you're not buying KPOP, skip to Part 3 — the same service works for fashion, beauty, food, electronics and anything else.

2.1 Why albums have multiple versions

A comeback often has 3, 5, even 10+ album versions (different covers, photobooks, inclusions). They're the same songs. Fans buy specific versions for the member on the cover or the inclusions inside. We'll show you which version is which in English when you order.

2.2 Photocards (포카)

Albums contain randomly inserted photocards of members. You don't choose which one you get — it's random per album. That's why fans buy multiple copies (chasing their favorite member, or "bias"). Some fans trade duplicates. Important: because they're random, no shop (including us) can guarantee a specific photocard.

2.3 Pre-orders & "POB" (pre-order benefits)

Albums often open for pre-order weeks before release. Pre-ordering from certain shops gives a POB — an extra exclusive photocard or poster only available during pre-order. Pre-orders ship after the official release date, so expect a wait. We'll tell you the expected release date upfront.

2.4 Group orders (공구)

A "group order" is when one fan organizes a bulk purchase for many fans (to share shipping or unlock bonuses). In the wider fandom these run informally on Twitter/Discord — and scams happen (organizer disappears with the money). When you group-order through K·PARCEL, you pay K·PARCEL directly for what we actually buy — no organizer ever holds your money. No more "did the host run off with my money?" anxiety.

2.5 Video-call fansigns & event entries

Some albums include entry tickets for video-call fansigns, lucky draws, or fan-sign events — winners are drawn by how many albums you bought, which is why fans buy in bulk. These events usually require a Korean address, Korean phone verification, and Korean-language forms, so international fans are often locked out. We can buy the albums and forward the entry slips/inclusions to you with photo proof — but the entry, eligibility, and any winning are entirely decided by the artist's company. We do not run the entry for you and cannot promise you'll win. (Honest by design — anyone promising a guaranteed video call is not telling the truth.)

2.6 Lightsticks (응원봉) ⚡

Official lightsticks contain a lithium battery, and batteries face strict air-shipping rules that change by country and carrier. Some shipping methods can't carry them at all. When you add a lightstick, we'll show you the available shipping options (and, where needed, the option to ship the body with the battery handled separately).

2.7 Seasonal & limited drops

Birthday cafés, pop-up stores, convenience-store exclusives, and concert-venue (MD) goods are often Korea-only and time-limited. Official global shops usually don't carry these. This is exactly where we help — if it exists in Korea, we can usually get it.

Part 3 — Practical Korean Shopping

3.0 What people buy from Korea

Korea is a hub for far more than KPOP. Common categories we forward and proxy-buy:

If it's sold in Korea — online or offline — we can usually get it.

3.1 Korean sizes

Korean clothing and shoe sizes differ from US/EU. Clothing often runs smaller; shoes are labeled in mm (your actual foot length). See our full Korean size conversion chart for women's and men's clothing and shoes. When you proxy-order clothing, tell us your usual size and we'll help match.

3.2 Your Korean address & why names matter

Korean addresses and our mailbox code must be entered exactly at checkout. Many shops require the recipient field to match our format. Enter your mailbox code (not just your name) so your package is matched instantly. See §5.1.

3.3 Why Korean shops block foreign cards / addresses

Many Korean malls only accept Korean-issued cards, require a Korean phone number for sign-up, or simply don't offer international shipping. That's not you doing something wrong — it's how they're built. Proxy buying (§1.2) exists precisely for this.

3.4 Payment methods

You pay K·PARCEL with PayPal or an international card in your own currency-friendly checkout. (Korean "bank transfer / 무통장입금" is a domestic method that's impractical for international buyers, so we don't rely on it.)

3.5 Business & bulk buyers

Buying for a shop, brand, or resale? We handle repeat and bulk orders: consolidated sourcing from multiple Korean suppliers, one combined shipment, photo records of every item, and invoices for your records. Larger or commercial-looking quantities can attract customs duty and inspection (see §4.3 and What can ship), so we flag this before shipping. Talk to us about ongoing orders and we'll set up a smoother flow.

Part 4 — Shipping & Customs

4.1 Shipping methods (speed vs. cost)

We pick the method by weight and destination and show the exact fee before you pay — nothing to choose, no surprises.

4.2 Volumetric weight — why a big light box can cost more

Carriers charge by the greater of actual weight and "volumetric weight" (size-based). A big, light box (lots of merch, low weight) can be billed by its size. That's why combining smartly and good packing saves money — we optimize this for you.

4.3 Customs & taxes in your country

When your package arrives in your country, customs may apply duty/VAT if the value is above your country's de-minimis (tax-free) threshold. We show a customs note before you pay so there are no surprises. Final taxes are set by your country's customs, not us.

4.4 Things that can't ship (or ship with limits)

For air-safety, some items are restricted: lithium batteries (lightsticks), perfume / aerosols / nail polish (flammable liquids), some foods/cosmetics. We'll warn you at checkout and offer alternatives where possible.

4.5 Korean holidays affect shipping ⏰

During Seollal (Lunar New Year) and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving), Korean shops and couriers pause for several days, so orders and shipping slow down. We'll flag it when a holiday is near.

Part 5 — Using K·PARCEL

5.1 Get & use your Korean address

Sign up → get your mailbox code + Korean address. Copy it (one tap) or save it as an image. At any Korean shop, paste the mailbox code as the recipient and the Korean address for delivery. This is the single most important step for fast matching.

5.2 Combine & ship

Let your orders pile up at our warehouse, then request shipping. We weigh, quote, and you pay. Bigger combined boxes = cheaper per item.

5.3 Track everything

Your dashboard shows every package's stage in plain English — "We got it in Seoul," "Weighed, quote ready," "On its way to you ✈️" — plus real photos of your items in our warehouse.

5.4 Refunds, returns & problems

Item damaged, wrong, or stuck? Open a request from your order — we attach tracking and inspection photos and help resolve it. Refunds go back to your original payment method.
